Faith-based learning, accessibility, and academic excellence across all ten regions
The Cameroon Baptist Convention Education Department (CBCED) is transforming the landscape of education in Cameroon by pioneering inclusive, Christ-centered, and academically rigorous learning environments across the country. With a presence in all ten regions and over 300 educational institutions, CBCED has become a leader in shaping morally upright, intellectually prepared, and socially responsible students.
Founded in 1970, the CBC Education Department operates with a mission rooted in Matthew 28:19-20—to provide sound, quality Christian education as an expression of God’s love and witness. The department serves learners from diverse backgrounds, including children with disabilities, orphans, internally displaced students, and underserved communities.
CBCED’s network includes:
These schools are not only places of academic instruction—they are centers for spiritual formation, discipleship, and inclusive development. By integrating Christian values into the curriculum, CBCED helps students develop character, faith, and purpose in addition to academic knowledge.
“The CBCED seeks to provide inclusive, sound, quality Christian Education through rectitude, discipleship, quality personnel, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and welfare of staff and learners.”
In 2018, CBCED launched the Sustainable-Inclusive Education Project (SIEP), a groundbreaking initiative aimed at promoting learning environments for children with and without disabilities. Since then, inclusive education has become one of CBC’s core contributions to national education reform.
Key initiatives include:
These efforts ensure that no child is left behind, regardless of ability or background.
CBCED goes beyond academics to instill biblical values, discipline, and a strong Christian identity in its learners. Students participate in:
This focus on faith and character is one of the reasons CBC schools are respected for producing not only high-performing students but also responsible citizens.
In many parts of Cameroon, girls still face challenges in accessing quality education due to cultural, economic, or safety concerns. The CBC Education Department has responded by creating safe and empowering spaces for girls within its schools.
Programs include:
This work is especially impactful in areas affected by conflict or poverty, where girls are at higher risk of dropping out.
CBCED invests heavily in teacher development to ensure quality instruction and up-to-date pedagogy. Teachers benefit from:
In addition, the department is integrating ICT and student-centered learning into more schools, preparing learners to thrive in a modern, globalized world.
Recognizing that many families face economic hardships, CBCED also coordinates scholarship and sponsorship programs to ensure that deserving students can stay in school.
“The department seeks to support vulnerable and deserving students to access education,” states the CBC report.
Whether it’s a school uniform, tuition support, or learning materials, CBCED partners with local churches, donors, and NGOs to remove financial barriers to education.
The CBC Education Department invites churches, donors, development partners, and volunteers to invest in this vital ministry. Your support can help:
By investing in education, you’re not just supporting learning—you’re helping raise a generation of leaders grounded in Christ, prepared to lead in their homes, churches, and society.
