Through the word "behold," in verse 1, God is inviting His people to be attentive. He has good news for His people. He wants to present the person He has chosen for the mission to set everything right. At this time, Judah is in need of this kind of call. They are looking up to God to raise another Moses to deliver them from Babylon. But God here is promising a better Moses. He presents a servant that He has chosen. God chose Him but didn’t allow Him on His own; He empowered Him for the mission. God has empowered His servant by putting His Spirit on Him. God has anointed Him (Isaiah 60:1). It is God who has strengthened Him. God, who calls, also empowers. God knows that the task of restoring His people is a very challenging one. So He has empowered His servant for that task. This was good news for Israel because it assured them that the servant of God was fully equipped to confront their enemy. For believers of all times, it is good news because the justice that He will bring to the nations goes beyond just deliverance from the hands of an oppressor; it is deliverance from the power of sin, deliverance from the works of Satan. Christians have also been chosen by God to be holy and blameless before Him (Eph 1:3). Live a life that is consistent with your calling. A Suggestion for Prayer: Trust God to help you live a life that is consistent with your calling
