We all know that God does not need anything from us. He is self-sufficient and owns everything that exists. Why then should a person give to a God who lacks nothing and needs nothing? The sole reason is love. King David according to our text tells us that, “and because of my devotion to the house of my God, I give it to the house of my God” (1 Chron. 29:3b). This means that it is out of his love for God that he gives his resources for the house of God. He delighted in God so he gave up his treasures for Him. Do you love God? The mere fact that you are alive right now is enough reason for you to love God. Let love for God be the driving force behind your giving.
