he Old Testament describes the suffering and sacrifice of the Messiah who would come to take away the sins of the world. Our text talks about Jesus being wounded not for His sins but for ours. He endured intense physical suffering that included beating by Roman soldiers and, above all, the cross. Jesus was crushed by the wrath of God against the sin of humanity; He was separated from God (Matt 27:46) just to bring us closer to Him. We can live as free humans having direct access to God because Jesus’ death satisfied God’s justice, bringing us forgiveness. It was a demonstration of love for us and obedience to God. We are to follow the steps of Jesus in love that lead to forgiveness in obedience to God’s commands.
Reflection
Jesus has paid for the sins of everyone who believes in him.
Prayer
Ask God for the ability to forgive even if it means sacrificing for it.
