In a world full of busyness and distractions, setting aside time for God is a reasonable way to show respect for Him. God gave Israel the sabbath to rest and to focus their lives on His priorities. The sabbath rest required by God for his people indicates that rest is a gift from God. If he requires his people to rest, then resting is an act of worship. While hard work and toiling are acts of worship, rest is also an act of worship. Time for rest should not be seen as time for random relaxation and leisure; indulging in desires we could not indulge when we were busy. Time for rest should be approached as time for worship. God gave us rest to be imagers, in our rest, of the God who rested on the seventh day.

We must set aside time from our work to rest. When we go on leave, we should figure out how to use that time to honor God. When we are done with work for the day, we need to ask ourselves and answer the question: how can we use the time of rest after work to honor God as we prepare for the upcoming workday?
