Humility is a concept that begins with the mind. The quality of information in your mind, the thought you uphold and what you value will determine you level of humility. We have a model whose mindset we are called to uphold. Jesus who is also God was sent to come and die for sinners and He did not raise arguments with the Father, since He is equal with Him. He knew that his authority as God would not be tampered with even after leaving everything and coming to die for sinners. He is the true model of humility that every Christian should follow. We live in a world where people imitated different models in different areas of life for different reasons. But the challenge we have in this text is to follow Christ who is the greatest model of humility, if we want to be humble. His humility took Him even to a shameful death. Learn for Jesus’ humility and you will be celebrated by others.
Reflection
True humility begins in the mind, and Christ gives us the clearest model of what that humility looks like. Though He was fully God and equal with the Father, Jesus willingly emptied Himself, embraced human weakness, and submitted to a shameful death for the sake of sinners—never once insisting on His rights or status. His confidence in the Father’s plan and in His unchanging identity allowed Him to walk in quiet obedience rather than self-promotion. In a world full of competing models and standards, Scripture challenges us to shape our mindset after Christ’s: valuing obedience over recognition, service over status, and surrender over self-assertion. When we learn from His humility, our lives not only honor God but also become a testimony that inspires and blesses others.
