From chapter 12 the teaching is on the different spiritual gifts that exist and the importance of every one of them. Without love spiritual gifts are nothing. After indicating that all do not possess the same gift, Paul encouraged the Christians to seek the higher gift and the way to this is through love (12:31). Then he makes clear the way of love first by stating the position of love in the use of spiritual gifts. In this way, the superiority and necessity of love is established. Paul is not talking here about the kinds of spiritual gift but the focus is the work of love in using spiritual gifts. Many people want to speak in tongues but they don’t seem to concern themselves on how their speaking is affecting another Christian beside them. Let us allow love to have its way through the usage of our spiritual gifts
