In the midst of all the chaos in the world, let the peace of Christ reign in your heart. The exhortation is for you and me to "let the peace of Christ reign." This means that the peace of Christ wants to reign, but it will not force itself upon you if you do not let it reign of your own accord. Jesus Christ is King. He is the Prince of Peace, but he would not impose his peace upon us. He wants us to decide whether we want His peace. If we want his peace, we will give His peace the ruler's seat in our hearts. There is abundant peace in Jesus for all who want to let his peace reign in their hearts. None of the things you look for to find peace and make your priority will give you peace. Only Jesus's peace in the ruler's seat of our hearts will bring true, perfect peace. We all want peace. Our passage has shown us the way to peace in the face of anxiety, depression, loneliness, betrayal, abandonment, ostracization, rejection, humiliation, hunger, hatred, and any other thing that could take away peace. True, suiting, healing, saving, sustaining, joy-giving, hope-instilling peace comes from Jesus, the Prince of Peace. You have to let that peace take primary place in your heart. All you have to do to receive the peace of Jesus in your heart is to ask him to give it to you.
Reflection
The peace of Jesus is the panacea for all conflict. However, Jesus does not administer his peace if we are unwilling to receive it. We show our willingness to receive Jesus peace by letting it reign in our hearts.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I submit my need for peace to you. Take away every burden that is stealing my peace, and give me your sufficient peace.
