We are generally tempted to give people what they give us. If they give us war, we will also give them war. In today’s text, Jesus shows us the right way to follow. Jesus is about to face the disgrace and the shame of the cross, yet He chooses peace. He submits to the Father’s will, saying that He came for this very purpose. His peace comes from knowing His mission and trusting in the Father’s plan. Jesus models for us that peace is not the absence of difficulty, but the presence of trust in God’s sovereignty. When facing difficult moments, it’s easy to be overwhelmed by our emotions. However, peace comes when we choose to trust in God's plan, just as Jesus did. Walking in peace does not mean that we are never troubled, but that we trust God in the midst of those troubles. When facing difficult moments, choose to trust in God’s plan rather than allowing fear or anxiety to take control.
Reflection
This devotional challenges me to respond to difficulty the way Jesus did—with peace and trust in God rather than fear or retaliation. Even in moments of pain or uncertainty, I’m reminded that peace comes from surrendering to God’s plan. When I choose to trust His sovereignty, my heart can remain steady despite the circumstances.
Prayer
Lord, like Jesus, help me to trust in Your plan and walk in Your peace, even when circumstances are difficult.
