Another pious or holy character is presented in this section and her contribution in the temple. She lived all her life in the temple praying and fasting. She too was expecting the coming of the messianic kingdom. The striking aspect of this woman’s ministry is that she welcomed the Messiah with thanksgiving and could not keep quiet but spread the news. There were people waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem, probably expecting a political Hero. But the good news of Jesus was about salvation. Many of us have not only heard about the goodness of Jesus, we have received His salvation yet are unable to share the good news to our neighbors. It is important that we show signs that we have tasted of His salvation by sharing the good news to all who are perishing in our communities.
Reflection
Anna’s devotion reminds us that a life rooted in prayer naturally overflows into joyful witness. She recognized Jesus as the long-awaited Savior and could not keep silent, sharing the good news with all who hoped for redemption. Like her, we are not only people who have heard about Christ but those who have experienced His salvation. This gift is too precious to keep to ourselves. In simple, everyday ways, we are called to let others know the hope we have found, so that those around us who are searching or struggling may also encounter the saving grace of Jesus.

Trust God for the enablement to share the good news about His kingdom to all.
