Tax collectors were seen in those days as traitors (collaborating with Roman oppressors) and sinners not worthy of social interaction with the Jews. Jesus’ interaction with Zacchaeus brought grumbling from the Jews. But receiving Jesus into his home freed him from the guilt of embezzlement and greed. He decided to give half of his goods to the poor and to give to all those he had ever cheated four times what he had cheated them. You might be known in your quarter by a particular negative name that no one wants to associate with you, cultivate a hospitable attitude, and God will give you a turnaround positive story.
Reflection
Let your good works speak for you.
Prayer
Pray that God will use your hospitality to change people’s view about you.
