Jesus is calling His disciples to show proof of their discipleship by bearing fruit. He compares the love the Father has for the disciples to that which He has for the disciples. And because of how much He loves them, they should remain in Him. The best way to remain in Him is by keeping His commands. He is an example of one who abides in the love of the Father by keeping His commands. This, therefore, means that we cannot claim to be in Christ yet living in disobedience to His commands. Jesus wants them to serve Him willingly, lovingly, and with understanding. Have you seen a child claiming to love the parents yet live contrary to the parents’ orders? If that child is abiding in the love of the parents, he should obey them. Let our abiding in Christ’s love be visible in how we love, obey, and joyfully serve Him.

There is always nourishment in His love.

Pray that God will keep you in His love through your obedience of His commands
