Content
A child of God has peace in a world like ours only if they understand that He is sovereign over everything. When you know, accept, and believe that God is in control of past, present, and future things, you cannot live in fear and anxiety. You have peace because of the object of your trust. If your trust were in some powerless deity, then you would have good reasons to fear and be anxious. The God of the Bible is not a frail, powerless deity. He is the one true God, and there is no other. He does not compete with anyone over the running of the affairs of His creation. He created everything and authoritatively controls everything. Before a thing begins, God knows it and knows its end. Nothing surprises Him. He does not speak empty words either. What he says he will do, he will do, and no one has the authority to question him when he does what he purposed to do. He makes and fulfills promises. He executes all His plans. He is trustworthy and deserves the trust of all His children.
Reflection
The sovereignty of God over creation means that he has absolute, ultimate, primary, independent, total, undisputable authority over creation. This then means that our eyes should be on God alone. We should never make a plan without first seeking his counsel. When we make plans, we must acknowledge that their outcome is totally at his discretion and not ours or the devil's. A good understanding of the sovereignty of God frees us from anxiety and fear. We do not fear the devil, and we do not fear man. Our hearts have total awe for God.
Prayer
Lord, thank you for being sovereign over all things. Help me to trust Your plan for my life and rest in the peace that comes from knowing that You are in control. Pray for the CBC: Pray for God's blessings over the CBC Vice Chairperson, Mrs. Sofa Caroline.
